The local mall wasn't that far away, a brisk walk if you weren't the lazy type. It also wasn't much to listen to; the mall's owner also owned the local radio station. The local easy listening radio station. Hearing "Don't Say Nothin' Bad About My Baby" by Cookie is enough to send you screaming from the building.
But there were ALWAYS people. Old folks walking to keep their heart rate up, mothers dragging their screaming toddlers around, teenage girls window shopping between tweeting on their smartphones, always crowds of people.
"So if someone were to....vanish", Robert thought, hands in his pockets, squeezing his balls, "no one would really notice."
He smiled as he looked around, sizing up the crowd, looking over any and everyone as he walked. The movie theater was showing the usual action flick/dumbass romantic comedy/dancing and singing penguin kiddie flick trifecta, a few clothing stores had their clearance racks out, there seemed to be a shifty-looking guy standing a little too close to the bathrooms, and further down the hall there was a crowd of some sort. Robert couldn't see what the big deal was, but they were gathered for something.
