Chapter #3An Enormous Meal by: LGV
The hunger had become simply too much for the Ogre to bear. She needed a filling meal if she was going to continue on her rampage without delay. The humans of the nearby town would likely turn her down, if not outright lynch her if knowledgeable about her recent pillaging. The goblins, on the other hand, would have offered nothing: neither resistance to her intrusion or a filling meal. Even if there were around five of them, their puny size would have made them small snacks at best. Thulka realized their was only one choice.
Enormous was going to be her meal. And a filling meal he was sure to make. As a great oxen, he far surpassed the smaller size of his closely related relatively, topping out at just above five feet in height. Colossal muscles clung to his legs, allowing him to carry all of the loot Thulka had acquired thus far. And finally, like most oxen, he also sported a thick layer of fat, hence his name. All in all, the majestic beast clocked in at over four thousand pounds.
Hunger in control, Thulka jumped off the beast and readied her giant mace. A single swing was all it took to bring her faithful servant's life to and end. It's lifeless body collapsed to the ground, sending out a tremor that nearly swept the ogress off of her feet. Though he was dead, Enormous was far from finished serving his mistress.
Thulka knelt down, reaching for the saddle bag. It had nearly been crushed during the commotion but thankfully escaped harm. Reaching inside, she pulled out the necessary tools: a carving machete, flint and tinder, and a load of spices. She had looted them from a noble's house the last town over and was eager to give them a taste. Blade in hand, she set the blade against Enormous's neck and dug in.
---
Two hours later, and the deed was done. Enormous has been thoroughly cleaned of his edible parts, leaving behind little more than bones and organs. A raging fire had been started as well. It burned brightly against the setting sun, fighting against it with it's rapidly growing brilliance. Besides it sat Thulka, armed with a piercing rod, and the spoils of the oxen's demise. She was all set to begin roasting when she realized something awful.
Enormous had been carrying the bulk of her things. Without him, she could probably manage to drag her new loot until a new mount was procured. However, she hadn't been taking into account all the meat. As gluttonous as she was feeling, she couldn't imagine eating it all in one night. Nor could she stomach leaving such delicious food behind. What was a poor ogress to do? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
