It took a moment for the shaking reborn human to realize that the deep thumping sounding throughout the room was the sound of her own heart, once again pumping lifeblood through her veins. She squinted and looked at her open palms, stretching out her fingers and then pulling them back in to make a pair of fists.
“How long has it been...”, muttered Morissa as she sat, staring in disbelief at herself in a mirror across from her that had fell and broken from the actions of the Magic Eater. A ragged crack shot straight up, dividing her flushed face in half. She reached a hand up to feel her pink flesh, her fingers darting away when the touch brought no coldness.
She prodded and inspected her newly living body for several minutes, this unfamiliar feeling bringing in curious sensations with each touch.
“...I...I hate this. The warmth, it...I cannot stay like this! I must regain my vampire abilities. I must...”.
Morissa nodded briskly to herself, standing up in the middle of the trashed living room. The intervention from that Angel had made a wreck of her property; curtains ripped, books strewn across the floor, paintings either crooked or fallen. Such a mess, thought Morissa. With steady steps she made her way to the cabinets across the room, searching for any coins that she could pocket. It was her home, of course, but Morissa knew in her beating heart that it would be awhile before she returned.
With the coins packed away safely, she turned and headed for the entryway to the manor. A quick look back at the disheveled room did nothing but further her need to get on her way. Where exactly Morissa was headed, she wasn't too sure of herself. She just knew that she had to find another vampire somewhere, and soon, else she go mad.
Stepping out into the sun was...to say the least, frightening for Morissa. She braced her arms over her face, protecting herself from the rays of the sun...only to remember that she was living. “Oh, right...I'm mortal. Daylight won't hurt me...”.
Even so, she took ginger steps across the dirt walkway, wary eyes looking to and fro as she got a hold of her surroundings. There was a minor chill to the air due to the manor being located at the foot of a range of mountains. Ignoring the chill, Morissa made her way down the trail, eying a lone red apple that hung from a tree. She grabbed at it, the crisp fruit being the first food she had laid eyes on since changing. She flashed her teeth and opened her mouth, planting the apple just below her top row of teeth. Without thinking she stabbed her teeth into the apple, attempting to suck the juice from the apple.
After a moment, Morissa blinked and paused, glancing down at the apple punctured on her teeth. With a roll of her eyes and a loud sigh, she shifted the apple and took a bite from the fruit this time. The sweet taste of the apple's flesh brought on a swath of flavor to Morissa's palate, and she found herself taking several more bites until the core remained.
“The taste of apples...I'd forgotten how sweet they are!” Morissa let out a small snicker, feeling a smidgen more comfortable after eating that apple. With a snack taken care of, she once again started walking, the end of the road her destination for the time being.
