This choice: Alice meets her roommate soon after - and she's not all that thrilled. • Go Back...Chapter #5Expectations were not met on that Day by: Obese Fairy Alice could not help indulging herself in the complimentary chocolates after how long she went without sweets. Alice had decided to eat all of them slowly so that she could savor this one of many tastes that she had missed. Unfortunately, a chocolate was in the process of traveling down Alice's throat when she suddenly heard the door of her dorm slam open, causing her to choke. It seemed that Alice's roommate had arrived.
Alice poked her head out of the bedroom door and saw her new roommate sitting on the couch with a scowl on her face. She had wavy blonde hair like Alice, although this girl's hair was a bit shorter. She wore glasses with rectangular frames, giving her a sophisticated look if not for that previously mentioned scowl. She appeared to be trying to take her mind off whatever was bothering her by reading a non-fiction book she had on her lap. Alice ducked her head back into the bedroom door to avoid being seen.
This girl appeared to be rather intelligent for her age, so it seemed that Alice's best bet to making a good first impression was to look smart. While Alice is a smart girl, her shyness was crippling her confidence; Alice was terrified by the possibility of embarrassing herself on her first day. That girl on the couch is the one who is going to be living with Alice for a whole year, so it is very important that the two of them get along. Acting smarter than she really is might come off as rude to a girl who clearly cares about education.
Out of the corner her eye, the girl who was reading had noticed Alice who was poking her head out again, trying to gather courage. While Alice was busy thinking to herself, her roommate had walked up to the doorway, deciding to talk with her. "So I'm guessing that you're my roommate?"
"Eek!" Alice shrieked when her roommate suddenly appeared in front of her. Alice quickly attempted to regain her composure, though she was not successful at doing so. "A-Ah! Y-Yes! That would be me!"
"Well, it's nice to meet you. My name is Anna Dupont." Anna reached out her hand in an attempt to suggest an introductory handshake.
Alice reached out her own hand in order to accept Anna's offer. "My name is Alice Carlyle. I hope we can friends from now on!"
Despite Alice clearly being happy about her first friendship in Buttercombe Academy, Anna had noticed that a confused look had formed on Alice's face. "Is there... something wrong?"
"Well..." There probably was something wrong, but not with Alice. Just a minute ago, Anna had slammed the door open and wore a nasty scowl. But would it be okay for to pry in Anna's problems even though they just met? "I was just wondering why you were so angry before..."
Anna sighed; she was hoping to take her mind off of what happened earlier, but Alice just had to notice her previous frustration. "I still can't believe that happened... Okay, so... While I was on my way here, I was cut off by three obese girls."
***About Fifteen Minutes Ago***
Anna Dupont was proud of herself for earning admittance into such a prestigious school. This was proof that dedicating herself to ensuring her own success in life was going to pay off. Anna was accepted into Buttercombe Academy, and her lackadaisical sister was not.
Anna followed the brick pathway leading to Dormitory A. She was certain that whoever her roommate is, she would be someone that Anna could relate with. Only girls who truly care about their futures are capable of pushing themselves to meet Buttercombe Academy's standards. Anna was happy to finally be in a place where people would understand her ambition... Well, most of them. Not everyone had to earn their way into Buttercombe Academy like Anna did.
While Anna continued to walk towards the dormitory that would act as her residence, three obese girls approached her from behind some trees next to the pathway. Two of them had large smirks, whereas the third one behind them seemed to be uninterested. Anna stopped, wondering who they were and why they decided to confront her. It seemed likely that they were going to cause her problems, but Anna had trouble believing that due to the standards for admission requiring that they have a track record of being well-behaved.
Despite what is stated in the list of requirements, Grace Sawyer and Autumn Westbrook practically never act respectful towards others. Both of them come from rich families that are willing to provide a lot of money to the academy, so naturally, the staff didn't want to try confronting either of them about their behavior, at the risk of upsetting the parents. As for Olivia Wolfe, she got into Buttercombe Academy by simply meeting the standards for admission. However, Olivia is willing to go along with many of her two friends' ideas if they want her to, albeit she would prefer that they all just stay in their dorm.
Grace loves the first day of the new school year. New freshman students arrive, laughably skinny, perfect for Grace to make fun of. Once all three of the obese girls had surrounded Anna, Grace shoved Anna with her large gut. As Anna fell to the ground, Grace began to taunt her, "So, you're one of the new twigs, huh?" Needless to say, the following minutes did not go well for Anna.
***Present Time***
Alice was quite horrified by what Anna had told her. "Oh my goodness! Are you okay?"
"... All I said so far is that there were three obese girls."
"I know! My mother said that obese people are dreadfully unhealthy! What if you contracted something? You can use my shower since we're already close to it."
Anna sighed once again; her roommate was missing the point entirely, before she even got to the point. "Forget it. I'm going to rest in my room." Anna went inside the room across from Alice's, and closed the door. Alice was now alone in her bedroom.
Alice immediately became worried that she screwed up with Anna.Footnotes (Important note: Marissa Dupont was not accepted into Buttercombe Academy in this timeline.) indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
