Ah yes, Unova. It's based off America, which is the land of cttle, Elvis, Obmama, presidental debates, the civil war, Disney, the Paul Brother and Trump, along with it being a breeding ground for extreem leftists. Last time I checked, it was one of the fatter countries in the real world, so you have plenty of justification for weight gain here.
