Lightning flashed, illuminating Twilight. There was something indefinably wrong with the look of his half-sib, Spike realised. She stood as tall as Celestia – hadn't she always? There was something of the look of the Alicorn about her, although her needle-sharp teeth owed more to Chrysalis, and her leathery wings resembled his own more than Celestia's feathered pinions. Yes, there was definitely something wrong with the look of his sister.

Twilight whinnied and reared, this time not so beautifully backlit – although clearly visible to his reptile eyes – jabbing a forehoof in a direction that, as his gaze followed it, identified their fleeing prey.
Then with a flap of her great wings, she leapt into the sky.
He could smell the fleeing ponies' fear, and it intoxicated him. They knew if he and Twilight caught them, they'd die brutally. The thought delighted him, and would've even if their scent hadn't made them easier to hunt.
Roaring his passion to the raging sky, he bounded in pursuit.
