This choice: try to contact the local police • Go Back...
Chapter #3
No phone, just the fog
by: Unknown
Somewhat worried by Beck's strange behavior, she went back to the cabin and tried to call the police.
Damn! Wouldn't you know it? The line was dead.
She ran back outside, holding her pistol. The fog seemed somehow more dense now.
Well, she thought. I'm not going to let strange behavior and dead phone lines creep me out. Got to check that fog out.
She slowly made her way to where the wall of fog began. Gathering her courage, she took a deep breath and stepped into it.
It was just fog, and nothing happened... then.
Exhaling, she began to walk through it. The sound of leaves was crunching under her feet as she walked. Vaguely she wondered what lay ahead for her. Why was the fog there in the first place, it seemed unnatural for fog to begin so suddenly. The strange behavior of Beck began to nag at the back of her mind as well.
Moisture began to precipitate on her hands and exposed skin as she walked. The fog was so thick it was making her wet.
And then the sound.
It was a faint chirp, like a bird, somewhere ahead of her, sounding like it was about twenty feet ahead of her.
