You are rocking back and forth in your chair, your hand pressed firmly between your legs, when suddenly a spurt escapes; you can feel the wetness moisten your hand. You think to yourself, 'What am I doing? Am I just going to sit here and let myself have an accident? I can't hold it anymore! No, I can't have an accident. I have to get to the bathroom now!' You start to stand up, ready to make a mad dash to the restroom, but it is too late. A couple more spurts break free, then a long stream sprays out of you. You sit back down, holding yourself with both hands, but you can't stop it. The stream continues, flowing over your hands, soaking through your skirt, and cascading down onto the ground.
When your bladder is empty, you look down at your lap and think, 'Why on earth did I do that? Why didn't I use the bathroom earlier?" In your shock, you've almost forgotten that you had been holding it deliberately. Your mind is racing, but somehow you manage to organize your thoughts enough to decide what to do next.
