Gamora woke up slowly, feeling more relaxed than she had previously. Now that she had been open about what was happening, and now that everyone knew about it, she felt much better about things.
She sat up slowly and opened her eyes, looking down at herself. Her belly had clearly grown overnight, although she had anticipated some growth. She pulled off he blanket and rubbed her belly, massaging the tight green skin. Her shirt had been pushed up over her bump, covering only her breasts, which had also grown as well, tightening her shirt.
Leaning off of her bed she stood up, thrown off of her balance by her belly. She steadied herself against the wall and waddled towards her wardrobe, pulling out a large t-shirt. She looked in the mirror and sighed at the half of her belly that was left uncovered by her shirt. A part of her wished that it would slow down, and that she could savour it a little more. And not having to deal with rapid growth overnight would be a bonus to that as well. Pulling on a pair of loose pants, she waddled out towards the mess.
“Remind me why we have to put these stupid locks on everything?” Rocket grumbled.
“Its so the babies don’t die from whatever is in these” Quill responded, sounding slightly exasperated with Rocket.
Gamora walked in, seeing Drax and quill starting to baby-proof the room, while rocket sat behind them, unpacking boxes with the stuff they needed.
“Morning” she yawned, sitting at the table, near to Quill.
“Morning ‘Mora” Quill replied, smiling at her, placing a hand on her belly.
She placed her hand on his and smiled back at him, glad that he was with her again.
“Bleaugh!” Interrupted Rocket, joking around. “Come on, people are watchin”
Gamora shot him a quick look, trying to frown, but a small smirk broke through her façade.
“Could you just grab me some food, Peter?” She asked, putting on her best begging face. “Please?”
Peter got up, and brought over an armful of food packets, dropping them infront of Gamora, who smiled thankingly and dug in. She wolfed down a few packets, before noticing everyone ,save Drax, staring at her, looking slightly shocked.
“Wha.?” She exclaimed, her mouth full of food.
“You just ate, like, ridiculously fast. Like insanely fast” Peter spoke, slightly confused.
“So?” She replied, a few crumbs spilling out of her mouth.
“Nothing, just don’t choke?” Peter said. He shared a look with Rocket as she started digging in again.
After quickly finishing her meal, and feeling relatively satisfied, Gamora turned around and watched the others, glad that they were helping along with preparing.
”No not like that!”
Of course, that didn't mean it was going to be easy.
”what do you mean? That's what the instructions say!” Rocket said, indignantly.
”no, it isn't! This part goes here!” Quill said, pointing to the small scrap of paper.
”Oh come on, it's just a small shortcut, what's the worst that could happen?”
Quill held up the lock and tapped it gently, popping it into several pieces. ”that, ” he said, throwing the pieces back to Rocket.
”stop your arguing, you're putting me off” Drax added, attaching one of the locks to a cupboard.
”Where’s Mantis?” Gamora mouthed to Quill, getting more than a little irritated with their bickering.
”With groot, ” he mouthed back, before throwing another lock at Rocket.
Gamora pointed to Groots room and mouthed ”ill be in there”, heaving herself up and waddling to find Groot and Mantis.
Gently pushing open the door to Groot’s room, she saw Mantis with Groot sat on her lap, reading to him. Smiling a little, she shut the door to block out the sound of the others and went to sit by Mantis.
”Hello Gamora, how are you?” Mantis stopped reading, smiling at Gamora.
Groot followed suit, grinning at her. ”I am groot?”
”Im okay, and the babies are fine Groot” she replied, picking Groot up and softly resting him on her belly.
”I am groot?” he asked curiously, pointing at her belly.
”of course you can, you can feel them here” Gamora said, guiding him to the side of her belly where she had felt a kick or two.
Groot looked up at her with a look of amazement as he felt one of the babies kick, pushing him back slightly. He went back and poked at her belly, trying to get another response.
Gamora smiled at him, a feeling of joy rushing over her as groot curiosly investigated her belly.
”You will be a very good mother,” Mantis said, putting her hand on Gamoras shoulder, the same feeling washing over her.
”You really think so?” Gamora replied, sounding a little nervous.
”Of course! You are very good with Groot, and he is a child. He is good practice, ” Mantis said, placing her other hand on Gamora’s belly. ”your babies are very healthy”
Gamora said nothing, but leant against Mantis, a silent thanks for reassuring her.
A loud crash, followed by ”For god's sake that's idiotic!” shattered the moment. Gamora sighed, picking up Groot and heading out to see what had happened.
