Kimberly was so excited the day the package was supposed to arrive. She actually came into work so early, that no one else was even around to heckle her about getting on the elevator because she was the first on in the building. When the mail man came through, she happily signed for the package and brought it straight to my cubicle.
"Hand delivered huh. Someone is clearly excited about this thing. How about this. Instead of going out to get lunch today, we both go and use the crystal in the stairwell. That way we can each have our wish granted before the day is over.
Kimberly nodded with excitement. I could see her clearly checking the time waiting for lunch. I laughed as I continued my work for the day. Roughly ten minutes before I was about to go to lunch I decided to open up the package to see if there was anything I would be missing. I found in the box a piece of paper and a crystal. The paper held the instructions for using the crystals powers.
"Congratulations on your purchase of the wishing crystal. These are the proper usage instructions of how to use the crystal. Each person who is to use the crystal will only receive one wish. Once the wish is fulfilled it cannot be undone, even by another's wish. To all wishers please use your wish wisely. Every wish will take effect immediately after the wish ritual has been completed. A wisher must first write down their wishes on a piece of notebook paper. Once the wish is written down(Be as detailed as possible) then you are to secure your paper to the crystal. The manner in which you secure it to the crystal does not matter. The paper must remain in contact with the crystal for 1 minute. This is when you shall place the crystal on the ground. The paper will burst into flames and leave the crystal behind. After the wish has been granted the user may do as he/she wishes with the crystal. It is now useless to you, but others may use its powers. Enjoy your one wish.!"
I laugh the entire thing off. "Burst into flames my ass!" I say, but to indulge Kimberly I bring some rubber bands and a few sheets of paper to her desk.
"Alright lets head to the stairwell and do this thing." I tell Kimberly who excitedly gets up and does her best attempt to run to the stairwell.
