Hansel and Gretel had been left by their mother and father and they lived in a big building with other childern. It was not nice at all living there, so they ran away and tryed to live in the forest.
Hansel was only 12 years old and Gretel was 11; they became very desperat very fast out in the wildnes on their own.
They came to an old farm seeking help and found a young woman living there alone. Hansel was holding Gretel's body in his arms when she let him in.
They were cold and literaly starving; Joaana -the woman who lived here- took the little girl from Hansel and brough her the bath tub and cleaned her body with warm watter, that revived Gretel enough for her to sit up and eat somthing.
Jhoaana gave her some spiced ham on a plate, nothing fancy but the girl ate it with her hands and asked for more. Joaana opened another can of the stuff and the boy and girl ate a lot of it.
Joaana made them tell her why they had been out there and everything that ha happened to them. They told her about the place they had lived with the other childern and how bad it was, how they where locked in at night and how they had escaped it durning the day.
After they told her that, she insisted that they would stay and live here with her.
Joaana helped the week little girl out of the tub and dried her off. She took her to her bed and looked after her.
Grettel had a few cuts, but it was alright. Joaana made her eat some more and gave her warm milk to drink. The woman tucked the naked girl under the covers and whent back to see Hansel.
The boy was in the bath tub, he had a few cuts on his hands but her was alright too. Joaana nelt down on the floor besid the tub and talked with him.
"Your sister will be alright. . . . You will be alright." the woman spoke softly. "How far did you carry her? You are a big and stroge boy. What are your names?"
Hansel told her his name and he told her his sister name. Joaana did not smile at oy seem to find their names to be funny and Hansel kind of liked that as too many people did find the two sibling's names to be fuuny.
Joaana went to make a bed for Hansel in a differn room and came back to spy on him. She let him sleep in the bed she made for him and she climbed into her bed with grettle who was fast asleep, here face driping with warm milk, her muth wide open and her head way back on of the pillows.
Joaana pulled the coard to shut off the light and she eventuay closed her eyes; she couldn't help but stay awake for a while thining about these two kid who she now had.
In the morning the Hansel and Gretel woke up still hungery from the bad time they had had out in the wilderness and Joaana was too happy to feed them!
