Sir Garrett saw the zombies pounding down on Albert. With the fury of the fighting he lost track of Albert and now Albert suffered for it. The armor Albert wore afforded some protection from the attacks but the zombies unnatural strength and numbers took their toll. The gruesome visages and number of the undead caused Albert to panic and trip trying back away. This lead to several of the undead to fall upon him. Albert tried not to scream as one of the zombies tried to gnaw his face. He used his hands to push away the decaying maw for tearing off flesh. Drippings from the creature fell on Albert causing his stomach to churn at the putrid smell. Fear of being a meal to these monsters helped to keep his strained muscles from giving way.
Sir Garrett upon seeing the precarious position of his squire called forth his faith and turn back many of the undead. Several of them fell to the ground now devoid of the negative energy that drove them. The undead that tried to feed off Albert slumped on top of him. While Albert pushed himself free and got up on his feet again Sir Garrett continued the fight seeming tireless. Sir Garrett smiled as Albert rejoined the fight regaining composure. He knew that facing undead the first is a jarring experience. He held no ill will to Albert for faltering a little against them. He was proud that Albert steeled himself from the fear inside him. Sir Garrett spoke as he knocked back another group of zombies that pressed in. "Foolish is the man who has no fear. Fear can be a great ally for it gives you caution. You have fought yours and won becoming stronger for it. Let us triumph this day." With that he split another skull with his blade.
Albert nodded thankful that Sir Garrett still held him in high regard. He wished to earn that respect in time. He sliced open one of the zombies before him causing its guts to spill forth. Again he felt his stomach turn over but he held it and pressed his attack. Albert chopped its head off in three brutal strokes. The teeth gnashed for a minute after the head tumbled to the ground before going still. The disturbing sights continued into the late morning before Albert struck the last one down. Sir Garrett's strength won the day with the aid of Albert. Albert tended his own wounds while Sir Garrett surveyed the area and decided what needed to be done.
