You were much too distracted with watching Kim’s hair transform before your very eyes to pay much attention to where she was taking. Somehow you ended up in a small pub on the corner of College Street, one that apparently didn’t card you which made it popular with a lot of the other kids on campus.
By the time you were sitting down at the booth, Kim was now a redhead. And not the fake kind that required extensive dying. This was a natural looking red that would only come with freckles and pale skin.
“Welcome to Henry’s Pub,” said the waiter as he approached the two of you. “Pardon me, miss. Would you happen to be Irish?”
Kim laughed. “Who me? Maybe like one percent or something on my mom’s side.”
“I just figured I’d ask. The owner’s Irish, oh well. What can I get you folks?”
You think you ordered a burger, but you weren’t entirely sure. While you hoped that you could enjoy your first date with Kim, if you could even call this that, the fates had conspired against you. As by the time your appetizers of pretzel sticks over melted cheese came out, you noticed something else happening to Kim.
You had a distinct picture of Kim’s face in your mind whenever you closed your eyes. As you glanced up from the plate there was something...Just subtly off about it as she stared back at you.
It was in her nose, which was normally narrow and pointed. Now it was looked slightly stubbier and wider. But it wasn’t just that either. You knew for a fact that Kim had brown eyes. As she looked up at you, you were met with the most distinct and striking green eyes that seemed to go well with her new red hair.
Throughout the meal, the situation only seemed to get worse with time.
Kim’s entire face was looking a little puffier and paler, while her cheeks took on a rosy hue. Dimples began to form in her smiles and even her eyebrows were slowly shifting color. Before long, you could say with certainty that there wasn’t any trace of Kim’s head looking back at you with the meal.
