At 19, Asher chose the life of an adventurer. With support from the regional professor, he embarked on a quest to uncover the secrets of his world, despite the potential cost—a cost Asher was not ready to pay. When the professor's instruments detected strange energy spikes in a nearby mountain range, Asher's first mission was clear: investigate the cause and report back. He accepted without hesitation and set off.
Four hours into his mountain exploration, Asher stumbled upon his target inside a small cave—a cyan portal. Attempting to touch it, he only felt the cave wall behind it. Content with his discovery, he prepared his report. As he turned to leave, he found a Lucario blocking the entrance.
"Hey there... buddy. I'm just leaving, no need for trouble. You won't see me again, okay?"
The Lucario simply laughed—a loud, unabashed laugh directly at Asher, shifting his wariness to annoyance.
"What's so funny?" Asher demanded.
The Lucario, still chuckling, presented a jewel-encrusted amulet with a pink gemstone, placing it on Asher's chest, which only puzzled him more.
"Um, thanks?" Asher said, reaching for the amulet but suddenly feeling faint. The last thing he saw was the Lucario's smug expression before everything went dark. Awakening to the sun's glare and the feel of grass beneath him, Asher struggled to rise. Leaning on a tree for support, he steadied himself.
"Ugh, what happened?" he murmured, resting against the tree.
