Thinks she hears someone calling her name

Even immediately leaving the house, the day felt slightly “different” in some odd, intangible way to Makayla. Almost as if the light and colors had a curious sepia tone to them. Chocking it up to all the weird weather they’d had all summer, the budding young beauty heads towards her friend Wally’s house several blocks away, despite the foreboding look of a thunder cloud looming nearby, darkening the skies to the southeast.

Makayla is now four blocks away from her house, trying her phone again as she walks along the sidewalk. The cloud seems to fill the sky behind her as she hurries along as best she can. She almost never takes this small side-street. Actually, the only time she’s ever walked it was with Wally. Usually, she avoids it, even though it means a slightly longer walk. The whole street seems longer and twistier today, almost as if she has gotten lost, even as she still recognizes some features of the street, and it begins to get blustery, with splashy rain patches, and rumbles of thunder.

Makayla is making her way along perilously, the street and sidewalk both seemingly covered in a strange slimy/oily sort of sheen making her footing surprisingly treacherous. Believing herself only two more blocks from her friend, Makayla suddenly hears someone distinctly calling out her name!
