Oblivious to the actions of Shingo Ishikawa and the goings on at the high school where Daniel was now taking a "joyride" inside a female student, the two CIA agents made their way to the scene of the latest "suicide", that of Shintaro Matsuyama. They had with them two other CIA agents of Japanese descent, Neil Tamada, a 40-year old veteran and father of three daughters, and Aiko Hayashi, a 27-year old female agent.
"So there were no witnesses to the suicide?" Craig asked during the ride to the scene, which was still cordoned off by the police because of the high profile status of the victim. Craig then turned the pages of the report in his lap and waited for a response while Aiko drove the car.
"There was one, a pop singer, um...Rie Umeda, she confirmed that it was a suicide, she apparently saw the victim jump" Amelie eventually responded.
"Yes well, it might not have been her, remember that" Craig said cautiously.
"I don't need reminding sir," a nervous Amelie muttered, "I have to say, this new drug scares the hell outta me" she admitted. "The very idea that someone can steal your body and use it to commit a crime or cover one up, its the stuff of nightmares" she continued. She then fell silent as she swept her shoulder-length blonde hair behind her ears.
"Yes, and that's why we have to bring these bastards down" Craig nodded, though clearly not overreacting. Craig hadn't told any of his team about the incident with Dust a year or so ago, when one of his best friends, Curt Wilson, had become of the many victims of Dust. A common bank robber had used the drug to take over Curt's body, which was subsequently killed in a shoot-out with police. The robber's own body was found in an alley a couple of blocks away from the bank, having succumbed to the effects of the drug. Craig had requested an overseas assignment after Curt's death, which was what got him posted to Japan, where the issue of Dust had once again reared its ugly head.
"You okay sir?" Aiko asked from the driver's seat as she glanced in the rearview mirror.
"I'm fine!" Craig replied bluntly. "Thank you!" he then smiled at Aiko, showing the warmth he still had in abundance.
"We're almost there sir" Amelie then stated, as she gestured to the building a short distance away, which Shintaro Matsuyama had fallen to his death from. When the car pulled up, the four agents stepped out and began inspecting the scene.
