Parker was on his way back home from James's place. Parker and James had been friends for years, they had the same taste in girls. The same taste in movies, books, comedy. And just about everything.
They even shared another, less common taste. They both wanted to be fat. James was huge, tipping the scales at well over 500 pounds. But Parker had never been able to gain so much as an ounce. For a long time he was insanely jealous of James, and that feeling just got worse once his X-Gene had manifested.
Parker's mutant powers would seem worse than useless to most people. He could make people gain weight just by touching them. He couldn't make people lose weight, or gain muscle (though typically when he added fat to someone they also seemed to gain the strength to move easily with it). He could only make people fat. Which, on the whole, most would agree is fairly useless compared to many of the other mutant powers that are at large in the world right now. Though there is one other advantage to the weight Parker could add to people's frames, it would cause them no poor health. And that was it.
His powers didn't even work on himself either, so he couldn't just fatten his own body. Which brings us back to James. When Parker found out that James also wanted to be fat too he had kept his gift to himself at first. No one had found out about him yet, and he'd only ever used it on two occasions before that, both purely accidental.
But eventually, after a few months of trying fruitlessly to use his abilities on himself, he decided that fattening up his gainer friend was almost as good as getting fat himself. That was a year and a half ago, when James was just over 200 pounds. Chubby but not yet huge, with Parker's help however he was now nearing 600 pounds. Nearly a 400 pound gain in less than two years.
Parker put these thoughts out of his head as he trudged down the road toward his own house. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep using his powers on James for too much longer, his friend was already having some trouble walking. 'At least he probably won't get heart disease from the fat...' Parker thought.
When he was finally getting close to his house he felt a tremor run through the pavement. Followed by another and another, something very heavy was moving rapidly toward him. He turned as a shadow fell over him, and found himself looking at a very fleshy chest. He quickly canted his gaze upward and saw that the Blob was standing over him.
Parker was struck by uncertainty and staggered back a few steps. The Blob just laughed at his apparent fear.
"I know all about you, Parker." He thundered. "You're the mutant with the useless ability. Well, useless to most." The Blob added, smiling darkly.
"Wh-what do you mean?" Parker said taking a few more steps away.
The Blob closed the distance between them in one stride. "You can make people fatter, to most that would be useless at best, and an impediment at worst. But for me...more mass would make me stronger. The bigger I am the more powerful I become!" He shouted grandly. Stomping his foot on the ground and cracking the pavement for emphasis.
Parker stumbled backward and fell. The Blob loomed over him and rumbled. "Use your power on me, pipsqueak. Or I'll crush you."
Parker gulped, certain that he had no choice. Grimacing, and feeling loathsome for helping a villain, he reached up and grabbed a handful of the Blob's belly. The mutant's belly wobbled and started to expand.
