A large branch came out of nowhere moving much faster than the other flowers. It quickly wrapped itself around Abby’s waist and began to drag her into the forest.
“No! Help me, Jenna!” She cried struggling to escape.
“Abby? -hahaha- ABBY!?” Jenna gasped out between laughs. In one quick motion, she whipped her arms across her body, breaking the vines around her wrists. She then ripped the vines from her waist and ankles and for a second, she was free and moving towards her sister, but it was all for nought. More vines ensnared her and for each vine she pulled off her body, another soon replaced it until she was restrained again.
“Jenna! Help me! I can’t-” Abby’s cries for help were getting fainter and fainter. “JENNA! Please help…!”
Her voice faded away as if into thin air and Jenna was left alone with the sound of her own tortured laughter as the flowers resumed their tickling.
“No! Get of -hehe- of me! -hehehe- hahaha- ” she screamed, tears of frustration welling up in her eyes. The flowers paid her no heed and continued to poke, pinch, and stroke the sensitive spots on her body. With one last cry of desperation, she fought with all her might only to be callously pulled back to the ground. Each tug and tickle gradually sapped her strength. Soon the poor girl could only lay there and watch as more flowers converged on her location. With the last of her strength, she did the only thing she could, call for help into the clamor of flowers and leaves.
Not expecting an answer, she was surprised to hear a sound, no a song, cutting through the noise of her own laughter. The flowers stiffened and seemed to draw back as the singing drew closer. The vines holding her down also retreated allowing Jenna to sit up and see the source of the melody. Through her blurred vision, she saw a woman walking down the path. Her long yellow hair flowed behind her swaying with every step; her gown was green, green as lilies; a gentle smile graced her lips and she sang with a soft strong voice that calmed the flora and even put Jenna at ease.
The woman in green walked up to Jenna and helped her to her feet.
“My sister! I’ve got to- “ Jenna tried to say.
“-you must rest young one. For you have already endured much. And if you are truly to go after your sister, you must regain your strength.” The beautiful stranger replied.
A sudden exhaustion came over Jenna, as she stumbled into the woman’s arms. She felt safe and a wave of drowsiness overpowered her as she gave into sleep.
