Doctor Beverley Crusher sighed to herself. While on an away mission to an alien planet she had been exposed to an unknown pathogen that had given her what locals refer to as infants flu. Thankfully it wasn't a life threatening ailment but it wasn't without it's embarrassing side effects. For the following week until the virus leaves her system her motor skills will be acutely duller, her attention span will become shorter and overall more simplistic. and her bladder and bowel control will be practically nonexistent.
The planets inhabitants had been dealing with this virus for so long that the populace had developed an immunity. But when the human anatomy had no such defenses, leaving Dr crushed completly vulnerable to the virus. Thankfully the disease was detected as soon as she had beamed aboard, and Beverley was the only one who seemed to have contracted it. After the doctor had been placed into quarantine the enterprise contacted the planets surface the situation had been sorted out.
The disease had been dubbed infants flu because the symptoms combined would lead to brief episodes of behaving like a baby or small child. As far as they could gather the only cure was to let the illness pass in its own time in quarantine, kept in diapers to contain all practically guaranteed accidents with toys made to entertain babies for when she experiences her episodes of mental regression, and the bulk of her meal in the form of baby bottles and pureed mush.
So here she was, sitting in her quarters with enough thicker than standard issue Starfleet medical diapers and baby toys to last her for days trying to figure out how to pass the time when...
