The bridge of deep space nine was frantic with activity as up on the view screen a runabout spiraled out of control with one thruster completely dead and the other severely overactive. One crewman in particular, Miles O’Brien, was worked up into a panic as the only person left on the ship was his wife Keiko. She was just returning from a long research trip on when her shuttle had not only completely malfunctioned but after everyone had been beamed away they just couldn’t get a lock on Keiko.
O’Brien was rapidly rotating from frequency to frequency trying to pull her out as the runabout grew closer and closer to overloading. Eventually he found a frequency that gave them the closest thing to a lock he’d found so far, it it was flickering in and out, the timing would have to be perfect. So without any other options the head engineer took a deep breath and engaged.
And after a nerve wracking instantaneous moment the transporter pad just beside the bridge whirred to life and the glowing mass of light took shimmered into existence before taking the shape of his beloved wife slumped over on the gound.
As soon as she was close to home Miles wasted no time rushing to her side “Keiko? Keiko can you here me!?” Her called to her as he caressed the side of her head, completely ignoring the wet spot slightly visible on her dress.
