"Duck! We got archers pinning us down!" another called. "I don't give a shit! Keep pressing the attack!" We heard battle chatter shouting from what seemed an endless forest. No wildlife was in sight, only torn blue and red cloth. I could actually smell the bodies that laid scattered in the bushes and grass. Rena was getting cut up by the bramble. Whatever blood was on us got washed off by the rain that trickled from the leafy tops of the tall oak trees. "Ugh, this is impossible to walk through!" Marvis complained so many times over with his heavy armor. "Don't you ever shut up?" Rena remarked. "Won't you guys calm down?" I tried to say but they kept arguing back and forth. "Don't you ever stop being a bitch?" Marvis talked back after hacking down a branch with his axe. "Look who's bitching." Rena pointed out. "Guys, focus!" I ordered. "SHUT UP." they both said to me. "H-hello!? Anyone out there?" Before I could say anything, someone called out from the distance. We pushed through the forest and found a wounded blue soldier caught in the bramble. "Oh. Thank God it's friendlies. I thought I was done for. Th-there are enemies a little further from here! We need as much ground to take over as we can to take control of this forest." I went over to the soldier and grabbed some bandage cloth from my pack. "Slow down there, soldier, where are you hurt?" He showed me the areas and I bandaged them up. "Can you fight?" I asked him. "I think so, thanks." Before we could make proper introductions, we heard the enemy coming closer to us. "Oh shit, here they come!" Marvis called out, having his battle-axe ready in both hands. Rena pulled out an arrow and said, "Go forward, I'll cover you guys." The soldier we found had a hand-axe and buckler shield and medium armor. We were as ready as we could ever be.
The rain began to get heavier. It was getting harder to see for all of us. Rena shot an arrow and we heard someone getting hit one of them saying, "Man, down! Crossbowmen fire!" I instinctively ducked when I heard that. "Argh!" Marvis shouted getting a bolt shot in his armored shoulder, he pulled it out, getting even angrier. I charged with my small shield and spear as best I could through the brush. I saw the first silhouette and ran my spear through it, pinning a red soldier against the tree and pulled out the spear. Our ally with the axe was clashing with another axe-man. I looked around to see where the crossbow men were, but I didn't see, Ack! A bolt hit my foot! I had to get it out. "I'm hit!" Rena shot up in the trees and hit the woman who shot me, but her leather regalia protected her chest. Marvis helped the blue soldier out and rammed right into enemy soldier, chopping him in half brutally. The crossbow woman jumped from the tree and pinned Marvis down and raised her axe to lay a final blow. "No!" I shouted. But couldn't stop her. She hit Marvis in the armor, cutting through to his chest. "AAH! Fuck!" Marvis cried out and pushed her off with all his might, she got up with quick agility, signaling something, and a crossbow bolt flew past her and hit Rena in the knee. "OW, shit!" We were pinned down. The enemy seemed to have the upper hand.
A horn sounded the area through the thick soupy forest. I slipped in the mud, trying to scramble to assist Marvis, but before I could, a shouting enemy came toward me with a sword, I held my shield out to deflect the blow, pushing my arm in an awkward position, I had to drop my spear to gain my bearings. Rena yanked the bolt out and angrily shot an arrow at the crossbow woman; she was still standing. The swordsman raised his sword to slash me, with a free hand I grabbed my dagger from my boot and stabbed him multiple times in the chest before he fell. I desperately went to grab my spear. More enemies were coming. We had to keep fighting! Marvis finally got his bearings and used his axe to cut down the crossbow woman only for more soldiers to keep coming. How many were there?   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
