Despite the pain in her leg, Jennifer was pretty happy with how things had gone; she was taken out of gym and to the nurse's office, where she waited for her mother to come pick her up. Which she did, and swiftly.
"Jenny!" She'd cried when she entered the nurse's office, and saw her daughter sitting there, eating a candy Miss Villeneuve offered her. Her leg was propped up on another chair.
Anna knelt down and gave her a tight hug. "My poor baby, what happened to you?!"
"I-I just fell mom," Jennifer gasped, still a little winded from the fall and the squeeze not helping, "I-I'm alright!"
"She had a bit of a bad fall in class, and her gym shorts have been destroyed," Nurse Villeneuve explained, "she may have pulled a muscle in her leg, but other than that she seems to be fine."
"Oh good," Anna sighed with relief, smiling as she stroked her daughter's hair, "c'mon, let's get you home. Easy now."
Slowly, Jennifer lowered her leg from the chair and stood, wincing from the dull pain. Anna let her lean against her for support.
"Thank you nurse," Anna smiled, "Jenny has a check-up later on, so I'll make sure she's nice and rested."
"Alright then," Miss Villeneuve nodded, smiling down at the chubby girl, "I hope it goes well."
The two said their goodbyes to the nurse and made their way out to the car, Jennifer awkwardly waddling while leaning against her mother's side.
Back at home, Jennifer was back on the sofa, this time sitting upright to support her still sore leg. Anna had propped it up with a pillow, and even bought her something from her favourite fast-food place to cheer her up.
As she gleefully tore into a messy burger, her mother walked in and knelt down next to her.
"Jenny, you remember you have a check-up today, right?" She asked. Jenny simply nodded, her chomping and chewing not slowing down. "Now we can't really back out of it, so you think you can be a brave little soldier while we're there?"
Swallowing with a loud gulp, Jennifer gave her mom another nod, her smile stained with sauce. "Uh-huh!"
"That's my girl," Anna smiled, ruffling her daughter's hair and plopping a bowl of ice cream next to her, "there you are, when you're finished with your burger and fries."
"Thanks mom!" The globular girl squealed, and Anna gave her a quick kiss on the forehead before departing upstairs.
Jennifer couldn't really complain; sure her leg was sore, and she had to go to another doctor later, but hey, burgers and ice cream!
Maybe she should hurt herself more often! ...wait no, that's dumb.
