Chapter #3

Petra, the gargoyle police woman

You approached one of the doors at the farther end of the hallway, it taking you about roughly thirty minutes to get there with a light jog. It was a hallway to the monsters, a highway to you. You nervously rapped your fist against the bottom of the door, cupping your other hand around your mouth and calling out "Hello? Is anyone home?"

Silence.

You knocked a few more times a bit harder and called out louder."Hey! I'm R.L., your neighbor from downstairs."

After a few more moments, you heard footsteps from within the apartment. Loud, booming steps that shook the ground with each encroaching one. Given the size difference of you and the other residents of the apartment complex, you had felt quakes from their footsteps before. But this one was much different. You had heard that Petra was much, much bigger than any of the other monsters living here. You gulped and hoped that the rumors weren't too true.

With a wide swing the door opened up, a pair of massive orange feet slammed down in front of you, each toe easily the size of a bus and the length of the foot covering a city block or so. You looked up to a massive, curvaceous gargoyle woman looking down at you with a bored look in her eyes, her body clad in a blue police officer's uniform. It seemed you had just interrupted her getting her clothes on, as her cap was haphazardly skewed atop her head and her boots were in her hands."Can I help you?"She asked in a monotone voice.

"Oh uh....hi."You waved up, expecting a reaction from her, but you really couldn't tell considering her chest blocked most of her face so high up."Like I said, I'm R.L....and I've just been wanting to meet my neighbors, that's all. You're Petra, right?"

"Correct."She replied."You're the human from downstairs, right?"She turned around and went back inside her apartment, casually offering for you to come inside as well. You scurried in behind her as she closed the door before sitting down on a couch that rivaled the height of skyscrapers. She truly was big. Much larger than any of the other monsters. Most of the others were around 300-500 feet tall, but you gauged Petra easily around 800 or even a thousand feet tall, leaving her torso and a head taller. She was even intimidating with her scaly, demonic appearance and piercing eyes. Maybe coming up here wasn't the best of ideas.

"I don't know if you're ballsy, or stupid for moving in here. Most humans ignore Horrorville all together."

"Well, I wanted to experience something...different."You replied as you sat down in front of her.

"Heh."She laughed as she put her boots on, nearly blowing you away with the wind generated by her movements."Ballsy is what you are. You know monsters and humans don't get along, it's been like that for ages. Plus, with the whole 'monsters getting gigantic' thing lately, that's really made things edgy. But lucky for both sides, I'm here to keep the peace."She grinned as she proudly flashed a gold policewoman's badge on her chest.
