Take Your Chances with Mavis

    by: Spiral-and-Twist Author IconMail Icon
Mavis was reasonable. You could appeal to her narcissism. But Lupa you couldn't reason with, you've tried it before. So you duck back under the door and into Mavis's apartment, her shrill voice still screeching through the air. She was singing some opera tune that you had no idea what it was. It was simply noise to you. Loud, annoying noise. But you could bear with it, through gritted teeth and held ears. She had been singing all morning. Mavis couldn't possibly keep it up forever, right?

But you were wrong, so horrible wrong. Nearly an hour and a half later, her lung power hadn't reduced at all, and you could still hear Lupa's pained whining out in the hall. What you had forgotten was that Mavis was a banshee, a creature known for their incredibly painful shrieks and lung capacity. You figured this girl could go for hours and barely be out of breathe. No wonder she was an opera singer, she probably filled the entire auditorium with her voice.

You leaned against the wall with a grimace on your face, hoping that you wouldn't be deaf by the end of the day. Her loud vocals echoed throughout the entire building, and you knew you weren't the only one suffering. Why was Nefernina allowing this?! Maybe the mummy was tone-deaf or something. Or, she liked to annoy others than just you.

And for one peaceful moment, blissful silence fell. You could hear the relieved sigh from every resident.

"Time for a quick break!"You heard Mavis say, only for her giant form to come walking towards! You looked around, and you were directly in her path towards the kitchen. You scrambled around for anywhere to hide, but it was a small apartment, and the closest furniture to hide under was blocked by the banshee woman. Before you knew it, she was standing in front of you, gazing down at you with a sense of shock.

"Umm...hi Mavis..."You waved up at her slowly.
