"See you tonight honey!"
Frank kissed his wife Susan and went to his car, just like he did every morning. And drove to high school for another day of teaching biology to students barely caring about it. Every morning, while he was stuck in the traffic, Frank would think about his life. And sigh.
Sure, his life was nothing to complain about: he had a job, a wife, a house, enough money to pay for his monthly expenses and a couple trips once a year but... he still felt like he missed something. He was born in this city, went to the local campus, and ended up teaching in the same city he grew in. He had an average life, and often thought he missed something.
One of his biggest regrets, and oldest secrets, was when years ago, one of his students hit on him. A lot. Her name was Ashley, and she definitely had a huge crush on him. But Frank didn't fall for her charms. Actually, he was glad she lacked some: Ashley was a smart and cute girl, but short and flat, and this helped him resist the temptation of cheating on his wife with a student. Ashley even told him she'd be more than happy to marry him when high school would be over. Frank, of course, declined. And at first, was proud of it.
But a couple years ago, he had seen Ashley again in a street. And couldn't believe it: the girl got a late growth spurt, and turned into a bomb shell with an overloaded bra. And like it wasn't enough, she even inherited a huge fortune from a distant uncle, and was now rich. And married. At this moment Frank thought "I could have been with this girl." And this thought never left him since then.
Frank sometimes thought fate was toying with him. And felt guilty because these thoughts weren't fair for his wife Susan.
But fate had something in store for him. As when he arrived to school, he found on his desk a weird package. And inside a dictaphone with a letter:
"To the one who will find this
Here's a present, just for you
Coming right from the abyss
May all your wishes come true"
"What's that? A joke?" Frank wondered...
