Lucy decided to think farther. She shouldn't think on the short term. But on the long term. What did anyone want in life ? Success. Respect. And she wanted it to. But hey, she was just average. And she didn't want an average life. She wanted to shine in the domains she loved. She wanted to succeed easily. She didn't want to work hard only to end up in the middle of the crowd. No, she didn't want that.
She wanted to be the alpha. And she wanted it the easy way.
Lucy noticed the Darwin book she had been reading the week before on her bedroom floor, and grinned. She knew what she needed. She thought about the exact wording for a while, whispered it several times, and when she felt ready... pressed the record button of the dictaphone.
"I have a unique condition, called the Darwin Syndrome. I'm the only one having it, and until today, it never revealed itself. This condition makes my body able to adapt to whatever I need or want so I always end up being the alpha in any group I'm in. For example, if I want to study physics, I'll become smarter in the coming days until I'm the best in the domain and could give classes to the world best experts. That is what this condition does : I'm adapting at an inhuman rate, so everything will always become super easy to me."
She pressed stop, and heard a sparkling sound around her, while her whole body tingled for a couple seconds. And then, the sensation fainted, and Lucy sighed.
"That's it. I just made my life a loooot easier and better! Tomorrow will be the first day of my new life!"
With a happy smile, Lucy went to bed, and tired, found sleep easily...
