---two days before the events of chapter one---
BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BE
Vanessa Barnes turned off her alarm and sat up in bed. After the usual yawning and stretching and mental bargaining, she got up and headed to the mirror. Looking back at her was the same Vanessa as usual.
Vanessa was tiny, measuring 5'2" on a good day. Not to mention her completely flat chest. She sighed as she grabbed her outfit for the day and headed for the shower.
Being the first one up, she decided to check the mail after her shower. When she opened the door, she looked down and saw a small brown package. It was addressed to "whoever finds me" but had no other markings.
After bringing the rest of the mail into the kitchen, Vanessa headed back up to her room to check out the package. After all, it was technically addressed to her.
She tore open the brown paper. Inside was another box, this one with a note taped to it:
"To the one who will find this
Here's a present, just for you
Coming right from the abyss
May all your wishes come true"
Inside the inner box was a device that looked a bit like an old cell phone, but much simpler. It had two buttons on the side, a red circle and a green triangle, and a speaker and microphone on the front. Across the back it had the single word, "Dictaphone".
Deciding to try it, Vanessa held down the red button and spoke: "My name is Vanessa Barnes." Easy enough.
She pressed the green button and heard her own voice crackle through the small speaker, "My name is Vanessa Barnes." "I guess it works, at least," she said.
But what about the note? It was definitely hinting at something. Even though she knew nothing would happen, she pressed the red button and spoke, "I wish for my walls to be painted green."
The walls remained their same old off-white. "Just as well," she said. Giving one last shot, she recorded, "The walls of my room are painted green."
As soon as she released the button, the walls were green. She didn't actually see the change, just one moment they were white and the next they were green!
"Holy shit!" she exclaimed. "How did it actually work?" But she wasn't really thinking about how it worked. She was just thinking about what she could do with it.
Quickly, she recorded "I am taller!" Upon releasing the button, she felt the world shift as her perspective was suddenly a few inches higher.
"This is good but..." she pressed record, "I am actually six feet tall." With that, Vanessa shot up, becoming possibly the tallest girl in her school.
Vanessa couldn't believe it. After spending her whole life at 5'2", it felt amazing being this tall! Vanessa just stood there, staring around the room.
Eventually, she snapped out of it. Then she realized that, while being tall felt amazing, there was still one thing she was missing. Holding the record button yet again, she practically yelled, "I have the most beautiful pair of F-cups imaginable, and a butt to match!" As she immediately saw and felt the changes, she cupped first her generous breasts, then her equally sizable butt. She found both to be amazing.
After a little more self-exploration, Vanessa announced, to no one but herself, "With this new body, I'll be queen of the school! Hell, I don't even need this thing anymore."
And with that, the Dictaphone vanished. With shock, she realized she had never let go of the button, and the Dictaphone had apparently listened to her declaration that she did not need anything else. But that wasn't all. Her mind went foggy for a moment, and when her vision cleared, it was apparent that she had changed something.
As Vanessa stood motionless she began to notice subtle changes around the room. Where previously there hung art projects and old middle school awards for various things, there were now cheerleading trophies and pictures of the new Vanessa with every popular person at her high school. In her closet, Vanessa found her generally modest wardrobe had changed to be right up against the school's dress code, as well as several different cheerleading outfits.
'Of course I have those, I AM the head cheerleader,' she thought. 'Wait...am I?'
