Instead of getting thrown into an already established fictional universe why not get thrown into something completely original? Like say something that mixes nordic mythology with cyberpunk? Or option #2: you get thrown into a golden portal that forms behind you, you meet Trucker-Buddha, the divine avatar of Truck-Kun who looks like Larry the Cable Guy for some reason, who gives you the option to travel between original fictional universes and already established fictional universes to perform certain tasks? At some point you will be free of this and able to do as you please. So if you get thrown into a fantasy world based on ancient Egypt and become the pharaoh there once you're done with the tasks you can poof into the RWBY world, nab Ruby, use hypnosis on her into thinking becoming your queen sounds right up her alley.
So what will it be? Do you want to be thrown into something original, or do you want to be the Worldwalker?
