"Check this out," Violet said as she brought the stick of gum up to her mother. "Strange way to make gum huh?"
"Very odd indeed Violet, perhaps its some sort of new way in the process," Scarlett commented.
"Well, only one way to find out," Violet replied as she reached into her mouth to removed her prize-winning wad and placed it gently behind her ear. Scarlett watched on with curiosity as Violet popped in the new piece and began to vigorously chew. Her daughter's face didn't reveal any sort of revelation as a minute or two passed.
"How is it honey?" she asked.
"Seems pretty ordinary to me, no special flavor or anything," Violet replied before an odd urge came to her mind. For whatever reason, she wanted to blow a bubble. Without a whole lot of thought, she began to blow and found to her odd pleasure that the bubble expanded quite rapidly. She blew again into the bubble and proceeded to enlarge it two-fold. As she made the attempt to pop it and bring the gum back into her mouth, she found that her teeth couldn't puncture the surface, and in fact; were repelled by the bubble's surface.
"Violet, are you alright?" Scarlett asked as she saw her daughter struggling to pop the rather large bubble in front of her.
"MMph," was the reply she received as Violet began using her hands to make an effort to eliminate the pink bubble from her way. Rather than getting the freedom she wanted, Violet found that the bubble was fairly resistant, if not immune, to her pokes and scratches at its surface. All the while, the bubble continued to grow in size and volume...
