Mana picked up the card from the duel disk. This was different. She sensed a tiny amount of magic within the other cards in the duel disk, but this card: Girl's World had almost twenty times the magic that was in the other cards. Was this card what had brought her here? Could it get her home again? She cast her diagnostic spell again. Not enough power in the card to get her home, it seemed, but Mana also sensed it wasn't at it's capacity. Using it's second effect in a duel would, it seemed, charge the card, but she would need around forty times the magical power a normal card had in order to get herself home. She was unsure what form she would be in when she got home. Would she retain this corporeal body, or would she return to a spiritual entity? Remaining corporeal would be problematic in interacting with things within the spirit world, but she could already see the perks of her current body.
Touch and smell were not able to be experienced by fully spiritual beings, and Mana was experiencing both for the first time here. Taste, too, was not a concept that had any being in the spirit world, but she also looked forwards to experiencing it.
Mana pulled out one of the chairs, and sat down to give the matter some thought. What did she want? She explored the magic of the card with her magical senses, and accidentally triggered one of it's functions. Her pink and blue outfit reshaped itself into a shirt, blouse and skirt, not much different than the school uniform of the students at the Spellbook Academy. The words written on it were in a language she didn't understand.
Sensing the magic within the card, she noticed that changing her clothes had depleted the energy a little, but not substantially.
"Whatever spirit resides within this card is incredibly powerful," Mana said "Where do you come from?"
She considered casting a Spirit Communion spell, but that would take alot of either her energy, or the card's, and she didn't want to use up either for the moment. She returned to her pondering.
"I certainly want to go home," she said "But that means using this card to change people that lose one of these duels to me in order to charge it. Is that something I'm comfortable with?"
She shook her head. While she and her master had dabbled in dark magic, it was always magic that they had researched and understood how it functioned. While she had deduced quite a bit about this card, she didn't understand it. She sensed a spirit within it, but she knew not the spirit's goals or motives.
Still, she wouldn't rule out that option just yet. She slid the duel disk onto her wrist, and pulled the deck out to examine. Her eyes widened as she recognized the entities each of these cards were based on. There was herself, of course: Dark Magician Girl, but she also saw cards representing each of her students: Berry, Lemon, Apple, Chocolate and Kiwi were there, but also Valkyria, a spellsword she had trained for awhile before she left the school to pursue her own goals. She saw her master, represented by the Dark Magician, as well as several of the students and teachers from the Spellbook Academy. In addition, several of the magic cards were based either on her own or her master's attacks, their combination attacks or spells. There was even a representation of the Eternal Soul, a method she had used to resurrect her master when he had died temporarily. Was this deck based on her experiences? Her stomach grumbled, and she stared at it. She felt something painful within. Having never had a physical body before, it took her a moment to recognize that she was hungry.
She puts her deck back in it's slot, and looks again at Girl's World, considering if she should put it in the deck or not.
