Padme and Sabe's exit from the storeroom certainly raised a few eyebrows; it wasn't every day that a reigning monarch and her handmaiden waddled out like pregnant women, arching their backs to support their engorged bellies as they rubbed them. Though she certainly felt bad for subjecting Sabe to the curious looks of the shuttle's other passengers, Padme counted herself lucky that she was posing as a handmaiden so that most of the attention wasn't placed on her gut.
"Are you alright with this, my lady?" she asked Sabe, making sure to stay in character as a loyal handmaiden to her queen rather than give the game away even with how drowsy and food-addled her mind was.
"I am, Padme," Sabe replied, also staying in character. "I appreciate the -Uuurrrpp- sentiment, but it is my duty to pay attention to the plight of my subjects, and if the best way to do so is to bond with you through gluttony then so-Ooorp- be it." Good job, Sabe, Padme thought. Not even a food coma can get in the way of your duty. She'd trained her well and this raised her own confidence; continued snacking and weight gain wouldn't be a problem with her new partner in feasting at her side.
Once the shuttle reached Tatooine, it was quickly decided that "Queen Amidala" (actually Sabe) should stay behind as to stay out of any trouble (which gave her a handy opportunity to fatten up on the ship's food stores) and Captain Panaka would stay to protect her. As such, the Jedi would be heading to the town of Mos Espa along with Padme (in her role as a handmaiden) and Jar Jar. Getting there was a chore and a half; trekking through the desert was arduous at the best of times, and Padme was a good fifty pounds heavier than normal. If I wasn't playing the part of the handmaiden I'd probably ask to go back to the ship, she mused, though in reality she knew she'd go regardless; duty came first. Things got a little better once they got to Mos Espa proper, mainly thanks to the local food stalls which both she and Jar Jar took a liking to, though of course the latter ran into some difficulties when he forgot to PAY for his food. Revitalised by the food (I really am a glutton, she thought), Padme managed to keep up with the others, the promise of more food for her growing belly proving enough of an incentive to beat the heat.
