Mel nodded in response to what Ryan had said. "Yeah he was to get a medal for his actionss in saving New York. But only the magic council knew it."
"Right and many witches and thier relatives were invited." John said.
"Not me and his Sister's. We were busy with school." Mel said with a shake of the head.
"Anyway me and my Mother went, it was right after I came back from Asia." Ryan said.
"But you knew John already right?"
"Yeah he was a penpal at my old school. 'It's a small world' I thought to myself." Ryan said with a smirk.
"By the way Ryan did you know our Mothers knew each other?" John said.
Ryan shook his head "She never talked about her time at school."
"Well get this, they were rivals and fought in tournaments and that."
The 17 year old was shocked by this, but went on with "Let's tell Mel what happened."
Flashback to two months ago:
Ryan was looking around from his seat. John was at his podium giving his speech about how men and women are equal.
Just then he noticed a gleam in a window on a nearby building. "John duck!" he yelled out.
Ryan dashed towards John just as he got near a loud 'BANG!' was heard and Ryan fell down.
His Mother and many people were screaming. "Ryan!" his Mother yelled as she rushed to her Son's side.
John knew that someone tried to murder him, just then he remembered he knew the name Ryan before.
"Are you Ryan Carlson?" he asked as he knelt down.
Ryan was only able to nod as he was in too much pain to talk. His Mother was crying over his body.
"Miss Carlson hold on, I can save him." John said.
John quickly put a needle in Ryan's back. After a few seconds Ryan was able to stand back up. Not only that
but his wound healed up quickly. "What was that?" Ryan asked as he rubbed his neck.
"Nanite injection, it's a small healing factor." John explained.
Before Ryan's Mother or John could say a thing Elvira and John's Mother arrived with a small girl. "We have the suspect right here. You just wanted to kill him again Ms Hilary?"
The small girl huffed, she tried to shoot John with a gun in a witch test a few months back.
Ryan was about to walk up and smack her when John stopped.
"C'mon she tried to kill you just now?" Ryan said with barred teeth.
John shook his head "It ain't worth it Ryan, besides she will be going to court."
Elvira frowned "I thought you would forgive her John."
John turned and sighed "I would've but she shot Ryan and not me. It's in your court Ryan."
Ryan was going to attack Hilary, but then he sighed and said "Take her away, I think she can practice her snipeing from a nice prison window."
Elvria nodded and the two of them teleported away.
"Mom can I have a word with John alone please?" Ryan asked.
She nodded and said "Let's go have some tea for old times eh Natalie?"
Ms Harrison smiled and said "I'd like that."
When they walked off Ryan said "What a way to meet huh?"
John nodded "I must admit that was some entrance Ryan."
"Yeah so what now?" Ryan asked.
John smiled and said "Let's go for a walk and catch up."
Back to present:
"Now I get it." Mel said.
Ryan nodded and rubbed his back. "That healing factor still works sometimes." he said.
John offered his hand. Ryan shook it and Jenny walked up to them.
"Why were you not trying Ryan?" she teased.
"You know why Jenny? Just can't smack around a good guy now can I?" Ryan said.
