Before I or Light could talk any further, the doorframe was occupied by Jenny. Her small frame looked dwarfed to Light's 6'9 height, she appeared to be rather out of breath to say the least. Heavy panting, looking a little sweaty, hands on her knees the works.
"I....*huff*...need to tell you something." she said.
I instantly went over to Jenny and put a hand on her back.
"Okay slow down Jenny, deep breaths and then tell me." I stated to her.
Jenny gave a brief nod and then took my advice, standing up to her full 5'3 height and took a few breathers.
"Mr Tanaka contacted me, he wants Light and you to head to the reception hall at once. He didn't give me any other details." Jenny said, a somewhat worried look on her face.
Now why would the headmaster want me? Usually it was to handle some delicate matter, as I had the reputation of being someone one could trust. That I could understand, but why Light? Aside from the people in our dorm no one knew of Light's true identity, something bad was going to happen I could tell.
And yet what options do I have? I can't just say "Fuck it, not my problem." Because it always wound up being my problem in one way or another. And now I could just tell this was going to spiral into something too, but again what choice did I have?
"Right come on Light, Jenny you stay here." I said, motioning for Light to follow me. He had a light frown on his face, but he followed my lead.
We made our way out the dorm and through the grounds of the school, past several students of different years. As we were in the middle of summer during this period of time most were just wearing their shirts. I found myself tying my jumper around my waist, I often did that so I could sheathe Asura when I wanted to use my Iai-jutsu.
Soon enough we were in the entrance hall, near the reception. The place was arguably the most expensive place in the academy, what with red carpet and plush leather sofas. Wish we had that stuff in our dorm, nope we just plastic chairs and circular tables with which to eat corn flakes.
We saw Mr Tanaka, the headmaster of Starmage Academy. He was in his early 50's, small streaks of grey showing on his features. He was half native American and half Japanese, with a body built like a tank. Even with that black formal suit on.
"Ah you've arrived." he said to the pair of us.
"So sir, what is it this time?" I asked, I was half expecting him to say that there was an enemy that needed dealt with. But what he would say would be quite a shock, more for Light than me at any rate.
"There's...an odd woman who arrived at our school in the dead of night yesterday. She was swiftly detained by our prefects, however she's requested to meet someone named Light Killer." Mr Tanaka muttered to us.
John's eyes went wide, mine's were as well. Only a handful of people, me and Tanaka included knew of his true identity. He had a cover story here that he had amnesia and took the name John Doe, and now someone who knew was here! This wasn't good, not good at all. Now you know why I go on about how I seem to be flung from one shitty situation to the next, why me?!
I then said "So who is it?"
Mr Tanaka sighed "She claims to have been from the same place where Light was brought up, if this is true then she's either been involved in the project. Or...."
"She was subject to testing, something that wouldn't be considered human." Light said, that was rather rare. Having him finish a sentence.
"Alright let's get this thing over with, so you know we can all get back to our lives." I muttered as Mr Tanaka made to open the door.
"Be careful the pair of you, the prefects say they saw this girl flying. Without magic, and if she's got something to do with Light. That alone makes her dangerous." our headmaster muttered to both of us.
Light merely nodded, it was kinda hard to tell what he was thinking at this point in time. But then again aside from screaming fury, Light never really revealed much emotion.
So with that we went into the room, it was a lounge sort of place. With fancy leather sofas and round coffee tables.
But that wasn't what caught our attention, no it was the woman sitting in the middle of one of the sofas. She was looking at us with a smile as she crossed her legs.
Light gave a small gasp, I thought to myself "Jesus, she knows Light?!" as we looked her over.

"Greetings, I am Lunar Messiah. It's a pleasure to finally meet you Light Killer, when do we commence our first mission?" she asked, it was a pleasant voice right enough.
"Who....are you?!" Light said, his hands going up to go through his dirty blonde mane.
The woman, who I assumed to be called Lunar frowned. Almost as if she expected Light to know her.
Before this got any more out of hand I stepped in and said "Look, uh why don't you tell me who you are. And we'll see if Light remembers you then."
She sighed and fiddled with one of the flowers in her hair "Very well, please take a seat."  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
