The University of Chicago's Terra Nova Campus was a sprawling complex spanning almost three miles of the planet's verdant surface, just outside of one of the major colonial cities. Night was upon this remote world now, but Liara T'Soni was still up and working. She flipped the page of her virtual book, and snorted at the preposterous theories presented therein. Honestly, Protheans inventing disco music? How did the writer come up with this nonsense? Better yet, why was this a best-seller in human space? The asari maiden snorted, and bit into yet another donut, the custard filling spurting into her mouth. Filling dripped down her double chin and splattered on her UC-TN sweater. It clung tightly around her breasts and belly, clearly intended for a woman at least fifty pounds lighter. Liara was fifty pounds lighter when she got it, but her grant to study at the famous human university was stingy, and she had to seriously cram in order to finish her course early. Cramming wasn't a problem for the studious asari, but it meant no time for proper meals. The cafeteria was a goddess-send, and the dozens of nearby fast food and delivery places were essential to her avoiding starvation.
Human food was a lot different from typical asari cuisine. It was sweeter, bolder, tangier - All the flavors were overpowering to one used to a subtle palette of tastes. That made it hard to stop at just one donut, just one bag of chips, just one burger. It was also extremely fattening, packed with so much cholesterol that she could just about hear her heart crying with every bite of pizza. Her body ballooned, from 150 (According to her scale, which used the primitive human measurement unit of 'Pounds') to 300, turning all the clothing she'd packed into skintight stripperware and forcing her to switch to human clothing. While jogging pants and a sweater weren't the most dignified outfit for the daughter of a noblewoman to wear, she had to admit, it was one of the most comfortable.
Running a hand through her tendril hair, Liara shook her head and tried to focus on the reading. Pretty soon, however, she grew bored, and reached for another donut, only to find the box completely empty!
