The next cycle has begun. Not the Reaper’s cycle of culling life from the galaxy, though they’ll make an appearance as they always do. No, it’s that start of another one of Shepard’s cycles of the last three years of her life. When the taste of blood leaves her mouth, and she no longer feels her open wounds, she opens her eyes again to find herself…
A: Staring out the window of the SR-1 during the shakedown run. Back to the beginning once again. This is the section of the loops she’s been through the most. There’s versions of events she feels she hasn’t been through already; being a Paragon, a Renegade, and everything in between, but still never arriving at a choice that breaks the loop. Perhaps a Hedonist run-though from start to finish will be what finally does it. A crazy idea, but Shepard was becoming a crazy woman, and it was worth a shot.
B: Putting in her helmet as the Collectors cut up the Normandy. Dying sucked. Shepard felt she had enough experience with it to make that statement with authority. Of all the ways she had died, this was by far the death she had experienced most, because it was the only one that always happened every loop. It was also the only death that didn’t reset a loop when it happens. This death was special somehow, and Shepard figured that of she could somehow avoid it, it may be the thing to break her out of the loop…
C: Watching a child run around with a toy Trident from her window. Well, time to hear Anderson tell her she was getting soft around the edges for the bajillionth time. If only he was capable of realizing how an exaggeration was now a vast understatement. But she learned a long time ago that convincing people she was reliving these events, especially this late in the game, was a waste of effort.
