"Give me a drink." You tell the man as you take a seat by the counter. "Anything will do."
"One drink, coming up." As he took various unlabeled bottles from the shelves behind him.
"Put his drink on my tab." A man said as he took a seat next to you. He was a giant of a man, bordering on seven feet tall. He had shaggy red hair and and a thick beard. He was dressed in old worn out armor that was covered in dents and nicks. Strapped to his back was a giant battle axe.
"Why?" You ask the man
"I can't just ignored someone in need of help. And you look like you could use some cheering up." The man told you. "The name's Borris."
"Erik." You tell him as the owner gives you a strange cocktail. You take a swig of it and nearly gag as the taste hits you like a rock to the face. You manage to force it down and then take a deep breath.
"So you had your first run in with a Slime Girl today, huh?" Borris asks, although it was more of a statement, seeing as your clothes where covered with drying slime. "Nasty things, they are. Don't matter how strong you are. Only two ways to deal with them that I know of. First is to dig a pit trap. Ya see there bodies are too gooey, so they can't climb out of it."
"What's the other way?" You ask before taking a much smaller sip of your drink.
"Magic." Borris states.
"Magic?" You parrot back.
"Yeah."Borris says with a nod. "Slime girls can't be hurt physically but they can be hurt magically."
"How do I learn magic?" You wonder allowed.
"Scattered throughout the woods of Malak, various witches have made their homes. Many an adventurer has gone in there with hopes of getting a witch to teach them magic. Some succeed, others are never seen from again." Borris explains. "Although, I never bothered with it myself."
"Magic, huh?" You mutter to yourself before taking another sip of your cocktail.
-----------------------
You awoke to a pounding headache and a stiff back. You look around and see that you're in an alleyway by the tavern. The last thing you can remember is Borris telling you about witches being in the forest. Everything after that is a blur.
You take a few moments to get the kinks out of you back and decide what you should do next.
