Chapter #5

Something else

by: Shadow Writer Author IconMail Icon
You figured that this website must have done it for you, but you needed to be sure.

This time, you decided to try something alot smaller. Clearing the current text about wishing you didnt work at your job, you typed in something new and pressed enter.
Make a cup of coffee appear on my desk

Sure enough, without delay, a cup of coffee literally sprang into existence on your desk. While the program obviously found a good way to make you leave your job, evidently without anyone nearby with a cup of coffee, the program was forced to magically generate it.

Knowing that you would have to leave shortly or face a verbal thrashing from your boss, you packed up your things into a small brown box, wrote down the website link and headed for the elevator. You noticed several eyes looking up at you as you passed, aware that this would be the last time they probably ever saw you.

As the elevator doors closed in front of your face, you managed a last glimpse at Alyssa, a longtime co-worker and good friend of yours looking at you leave. She wasnt considered something of an amazing person, both mentally or physically, among everyone else, but you had always liked her and even had a small crush on her. One of your other co-workers once asked you about that and you gave him an icey glare.

-----

Home, where the heart is. Actually, you'd rather give it to Alyssa but clearly that wouldnt happen anymore. Sure, you could use the website to bring both of you together, but you'd really rather have a more honest relationship.

You sat down at your computer, having dumped your box of work stuff on the nearby table. Flicking through your emails and newsfeeds, you quickly became bored with the world.
