Of course - just next door is the lab used for botany classes. She rushes out of the classroom and over to the next. Opening the door, she takes a peek inside. Luckily the room is unoccupied at the moment. Citrine makes her way to the back of the room where the Rafflesia sits encased in glass on top of a podium. One of the school's most prized specimens, it was easily over 6 feet in diameter! All Citrine needs is a tiny piece of the flower; she didn't want to bother the faculty at lunchtime, and she was sure nobody would notice a bit missing anyway.
Citrine drags a ladder over to the podium and climbs to the top. She can't help but admire the enormous red flower. It's so beautiful, yet so potent...the perfect flower for a girl like her. Citrine opens a hatch in the glass casing, one hand holding tongs and the other covering her nose...but nothing could have prepared her for the noxious Rafflesia! The scent of decaying flesh reaches up to Citrine's nasal cavity like the tendrils of some elder god. Her eyes fill with tears and she doesn't dare open her mouth to cough. Unable to withstand the all-out assault on her senses, Citrine loses her balance and...
