You wonder where Ms Thompson's daughters are. Maybe they're upset that they have to share a bedroom. You should at least introduce yourself.
You knock on the door adjacent to yours.
"What?" Comes the irritated reply.
"Um." You don't know what to say. "I'm Daniel. I just wanted to say hello?"
The door opens to reveal a small girl, about 7 years old. "Hi Daniel. I'm Sarah." She definitely wasn't the voice you were talking to.
You look past Sarah, Into the room and see another girl, a year or two older than you, sitting on one of the beds with a book. "What do you want?"
"I'm sorry you two have to share a room while I'm here." You take a guess that this is the source of her hostility. "I didn't know that there wasn't a spare room."
"I guess you're right." She warms slightly. "It was Mom who did this, not you."
"I don't mind." Sarah adds. "I like sharing with Felicity."
"We've still got some time before dinner." Felicity puts down her book. "What would you like to do? I'm sure something will be on TV. Otherwise we've got a few board-games."
