Chapter #5Jimmy by: Unknown A week has pasted since your grandfather passed away, you and your father had just come back from the funeral ceremony that was held earlier today. This left you pretty bummed out, you were always pretty close and fond of your grandfather. The two of you always spent so much time together that's probably where you got your sense of humor. You still couldn't believe that he has left this world and that you would never be able to spend time with him ever again, it was heartbreaking. While in the midst of your thoughts, you heard your dad say something.
Turning around you met his gaze and listened, "Hey, son I know this is hard on you especially since we don't have much family left after your mom left, it was the three of us and now its just us two, but I just want you to know that I'm always here for you" he finished explaining with half gentle smile trying to mask the sadness in his eyes. "Anyways son, do you mind taking this box of grandpa's stuff to the basement? I think I'm just going to retire for the night."
Knowing your dad is extremely tired with everything going on, you simply nod your head and agree to take the box up. You head over towards the door way where the box was placed and pick it up and head towards the basement door. Heading down the basement, you reach out to turn the light; however, the light bulb just went out. "Damn, well I guess I won't be down there that long. I'll just place it down there in the corner and go to my room."
Finally reaching the end of the steps, you begin walking through the darkness, but your leg snags on some tangled up extension cords that had been laying on the floor for who knows how long, "Fuck!... What was that? Well that wasn't any fun..." Looking over towards the box that was in your hands a few seconds ago, you notice some of the belongings had fell out. "Man! Just my luck, I can't believe this."
Bringing out your phone as a sort of makeshift flash light, you begin putting your grandpa's belongings back into the box, but then all of sudden, something catches your eye. There was a big envelope with your name on it. "What is this? Maybe grandpa left me something?" Hurriedly shoving the rest of the belongings back into the box, you grab the envelope and rush over to your room to open it.
Sweating with both anticipation and nervousness, you slowly unsealed the envelope, "Now grandpa what did you want to show me?" Lifting the contents out of the envelope, it contained a letter and something that looked akin to an old scroll with some weird gibberish written on it. You decided to leave the scroll alone for now and look over the letter your grandpa wrote, it read:
"Jimmy-boy,
If you are reading this, it means that I've passed away. I've wrote this letter to let you know how much it meant to me all the time we spent together, I know how hard life has been with your mother leaving and your father working all the time and so I'm glad you found me as someone you could turn to. Looking at you, I would always smile fondly because you reminded me so much of myself in my more youthful days that is why there is something I have decided I've wanted to entrust to you. You see when I was younger, I would travel all over the world and in those travels I found the scroll that I included in this letter. This scroll has magical powers, if you should dare even utter the phrase written on the front, it will grant you the power of possession! Yes, my boy you heard me right! It grants the user the power to possess other people's bodies. I had quite the entertainment in my youth with that thing and I want you to be the sole inheritor of this power, so enjoy it my boy. Another thing, reading the front side will cause another incantation to appear on the other side of it, this will put the power back into the scroll just read it once you are out of the current body you have possessed or you'll be stuck in that body for the time being until you read the front side again. Just remember I love you and God bless my boy, enjoy life.
Love,
Grandpa Jim"
Tearing up a bit from the message, you could hardly believe what exactly you have just stumbled across; however, the very prospect of the idea excites you to no end. You decide to put the scroll away in a secret compartment under your night study. With that your face contorted into a grin that expanded ear to ear.
