"Alright, now let's see what this is all about" you said to yourself. The old man had seemed confident that it was indeed a magical scroll. Even though you didn't believe that kind of stuff, it definitely looked... authentic.
The scroll itself was well worn, a dark greyish color and very smooth to the touch. Inscribed in gold ink were letters that were, surprisingly, Roman characters. The words didn't make sense, though.
You read the words out loud, hoping to catch some hidden meaning in them. As you read the last word - still not understanding a thing - the words began to dissolve into a golden smoke.
"Holy shit!" you cursed quietly as the smoke raised up from the scroll, the words having completely disappeared. It swirled around you in circles before finally plunging into your chest.
It didn't hurt, but you immediately felt a warmth inside. What was that? You reached for it mentally, and were hit with a revelation. You had taken in the power of the scroll, and it let you become ethereal.
"Well isn't that something?" you thought, focusing on the warmth inside your body. You burst into a puff of the same golden smoke. "Whoa..." you said, but you sounded a bit... different. Then it occurred to you why - you were floating, and see-through!
In a panic, you reached back for the power. You reformed, landing back your feet in a motion that was probably less than graceful.
"So I can change back..." you thought, then ghosted again. "This is cool!" you said, and floated through the wall.
"So what can I do while like this?" you asked yourself, even though you already knew the answer. If you were to push yourself into someone while in this form, you would slip into their body and take complete control of it.
The better question was, who were you going to test it on?
