"PC Brown, a word please," said a voice, as he walked past his superior's office on the way to the locker rooms. He followed Chief Johnson into the room.
The room was as you might expect any room belonging to any chief of police. There was a notice board behind him with various different case files pinned to it. There was a desk with one chair on one side, and two chairs on the other side of it, one of which was already occupied by a woman. The chief sat down facing the woman, and indicated for Brown to take a seat.
"Steven Brown, this is Detective Anne Harley, your new partner," said Chief Johnson
Steve looked at the chief. "You know I'm a one-man operation, sir," he said "I work better alone."
Johnson gestured to the chair. Taking it, Steve raised his eyebrows for an answer.
"This change gas has changed everything up," said Johnson "Our adversaries have started using these changes to their advantage. The only way we can keep up with them, is if we start using it to our advantage, too."
"Your being promoted, Steve," said Detective Harley "To Detective, better pay and a nicer office, if you accept, we'll give you the details of the mission."
