After his growth spurt, Davis became a worthier rival of the 8 feet tall soccer player.
Taichi was still better than him thanks to his superior physique, but he couldn't steal the ball as easily as before. And the things became progressively harder as Z slowly made him grow taller and stronger.
Davis had reached 7 feet tall when they were interrupted by TK and Ken. Z greeted them, forgetting about Davis and consequently halting his supernatural growth. He had also forgotten to adjust his clothes, so they were a little too tight and short for him, exposing a little of his abdomen.
"Guys! Long time no see!"
"Hi,Z! It's been a while" Ken said happy. "Are you playing soccer?"
"Yes, well, only Davis and Tai are." The magic boy explained "I'm the referee, I guess. And the cheerleader!"
Z started to jump and shake his arms like one. Everyone laughed.
"Can I join? I feel like playing..."
"Of course! But first do some stretched" Z suggested with an rogue smile.
While Ken was doing some stretches, his head began to inch upwards and pack some muscles... but then the growth stopped as suddenly as it started, just after he hit the 6' mark. Z remembered Ken was a great football player, better than Davis, and how bad he felt after Ken defeated him 5-1 the last time. If Ken became as tall as him, the story would repeat again.
"Maybe, just this time... I let Davis have advantage over his rival and friend." He thought, leaving him at a 6'1" height, more than most of adults, and with a nice sportsman build.
Then he faced the only one who hadn't grown yet... Takeru was next to Ken, looking at him.
"Hey, TK... who do you want to play with?"
"Eh... I don't know... I think I pass."
"What?" His three friends protested "But we need you, we can't play with an odd number of players."
"But I'm not good at soccer... I rarely played. Also... you all are so strong, I'm like a weak kid in front of you."
"Oh"
Takeru, who once was the tallest in his class, was now the shortest of the group. His friends were between half a foot and 2.5 feet taller and many pounds heavier, and that was clearly intimidating him. The reality had adapted to Z's changes, and in that new reality TK had developed a inferiority complex.
He felt bad for him. Fortunately, it was easy to fix it.
