This choice: Sarah tells them that she's God and that they're her favourites. • Go Back...Chapter #5Introductions by: Unknown As Abbie opened the door to her house, David desperately tried to will his rather large erection down.
Not that he minded having an erection, normally. It reminded him of just how strong and vital he felt, as he had never felt before, and he supposed that it was also in part because he had a sexy woman on each arm. But he didn't want to make a bad impression on Alex's mother.
As he entered his girlfriend's house, he gasped.
The entrance foyer was huge.
Surely the entrance foyer was larger than the house. The house was on a narrow, shallow lot and already had a sizable front yard with a well-maintained garden, and he'd caught glimpses of a decent vegetable garden in the back. Heck, he could probably fit his house in here. But even so, having a house like this... Alex's family must be rich. The thought made his erection strain against his pants, and he winced slightly.
"Oh, don't worry about that, David," came a voice from above, even lovelier than Alex's. He looked up and saw a figure in a stunning gold dress on a balcony overlooking the foyer. "Hi," she continued, "I'm Sarah Blayson, and please, call me Sarah. I'm not a Miss, I'm divorced, so no Mrs., and I hate Ms." She descended the long staircase from the centre of the balcony.
"Please, come with me. I've got food for six laid out." Sarah walked toward one of the doors. David followed at a tug from Alex, having been frozen by how young Sarah appeared to be.
The dining room was small and intimate, with a table laid out for them. The chairs seemed to be made to fit them perfectly. Sarah sat at one end of the table, Abbie and Alex beside her. She indicated for David to sit opposite her, while Candace sat next to Abbie and Lauren next to Alex.
David eyed the food with suspicion. It looked like it would taste very good, but that it would also be very unhealthy, and he was already on the verge of losing his starting spot on the football team. A few more pounds just might do it. He noted that Candace and Lauren showed a similar reluctance, but that Abbie, Alex and Sarah had dug in.
"Don't worry about the food," said Sarah. "You'll find that it's the healthiest you've ever eaten."
David shrugged and put an assortment on his plate. Soon he was digging in as much as the others. He wasn't as clean an eater as Sarah, Alex or Candace, but he was also not as messy as Lauren, and he didn't belch every ten seconds like Abbie.
Once the meal was done, Abbie let out her usual huge burp, but unlike what David had heard about the lunchroom that day--he had taken his lunch to the gym--it smelled like roses and seemed to freshen the air, if anything.
Lauren had leaned over to Alex, but David couldn't quite make out what she was saying. Alex shrugged her shoulders in response.
David was surprised when Sarah said, "That's a good question, Lauren, and one that I can answer. Put simply, you're here because I want you to be here."
"Because you want us to be here?" said Candace. "Abbie, we agreed that you weren't going to come out until we graduated."
"I've known that Abbie is a lesbian for at least a year, though I didn't know that Alex is bisexual. That was a new one."
"But how did you find out?" continued Candace. "And how could you just want us to be here and we came?"
"Because I'm God, Candace, and God knows everything, and if God wants something to happen, it happens."
Candace promptly shut up, but David said, "God? That's quite the claim."
"You want me to prove it? Okay," and suddenly the empty tray of food was full again, then portions levitated from the tray onto each of the six plates. Abbie immediately tucked in, and as she ate, more food floated from the central tray to her plate.
David didn't touch his plate, while Alex, Candace and Lauren only picked at theirs, food floating to replace what little they ate.
"And what about this house? You were correct that your house could fit in that foyer, David, well, if the central stairs were removed, anyway. But I could change that." Sarah giggled. "If you were wondering, this house is infinitely large, on the inside at least. Now please, do eat. I may be infinitely powerful but I don't like to see my powers used that wastefully." With that she began eating, and David did the same. Not long after the last bit of food floated over to Abbie's plate. David estimated that she had eaten at least three-quarters of what was initially there.
"So, you're God," said Lauren. "That means that you can do anything, or what?"
"Anything," Sarah affirmed. "But it also means that I get to do things like judge the dead, and the living, for that matter. But don't worry. You're my daughter's girlfriend, and so just as I love her unconditionally, I love you as well--at least, as long as you love my daughter."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well, if you were ever to break up, you'd be the woman who dumped my beloved daughter, and then I would probably have to kill you and send you to hell."
