Chapter #3

Black house cat

    by: handyman Author IconMail Icon
My pet cat Midnight says to me one night; "you know I never get any respect around here or in the community.
Just because I am pitch black people think I am bad luck when they see me especially when it is dark and
light for that matter." My reply to that was "I don't know what to tell you, Midnight. Let them think what they
want I know better. I would not keep you around if you were bad luck for me. I just have not seen any bad luck
since I've had you as my pet.
"What about that time we were at the local swimming hole and I was off in the
woods nearby and you threw that dead bass at your best friend and hit him in the side of the head and it somehow
stuck in his head after one of the fins embedded itself and made it look like it had been glued there?"
"I had completely forgotten about that time, but I did not think for a minute it happened because of you.
What about that time you had your first bicycle accident and I was pretty close to you when that happened.
I just chalked that one up to everybody has their first bike wreck, it's inevitable. Midnights' reply to that was
what does that mean? Inevitable, I said means it was bound to happy sometime.
What about that time I wasin the same room you were in and you took that baseball cap off the doorknob,
put it on your head and then feltsomething moving around up there? Next thing I know you were bit by a spider
and had to go to the doctor because of it. Oh yea, I remember that but did not for a minute think it happened
because of you once again.
