Katie never really celebrated her birthdays much. Sure, her folks invited several of the local kids when she was young, but very early on, Katie was content to spend time and celebrate with her immediate family. This had gone on for years, and though some of her friends throughout were surprised by this tidbit of information, they seemed to drop it quickly.
So, once she got home, Katie was pleasant surprised by her closest friends. Though she was glad to see them all, she was especially happy to see Nathaniel there. She would never admit it, but she had quite the crush on him ever. Maybe it was how he could make the most mundane event sound hilarious, or how passionate he was about whatever he did, but he was quite the charmer. In any event, she was glad to be able to hang with him and her other friends.
As the day wore on, Katie's friends left for varying reasons, eventually leaving only her and Nathaniel. He was about to head out as well when Katie suggested they'd try a game of truth or dare, the girl just barely managing to keep her face from turning red as he agreed.
"So, truth or dare?" Nathaniel asked, a confident smile on his face.
"Well... I guess I'll go with dare." Katie giggled. Though she was tempted to choose truth for several reasons, she decided to go with dare because she was curious as to what he'd have her do when it was just the two of them, alone together. That, and if it was for him, she wouldn't have minded doing what he asked... for the most part at least.
"Well..." The target of his affections rubbed his chin in mock thought before whipping out a piece of gum, looking unsure for a moment whether to go through with the dare he had planned before holding it forth. "I dare you to have this gum."
Katie was dumbstruck at first, expecting and perhaps wishing for something a bit more risque, but went with the deed, popping the curious stick into her mouth, her eyes going wide as the rich, juicy flavor of blueberries burst into her mouth. "Woah... this is amazing..." The blond girl said in between chews. As much as she'd wish to continue, though, it was now his turn. "So... truth or dare, Nathaniel?"
