...spiders. Large cobwebs hung between the surrounding trees, only growing thicker and more common the close they got to the mouth of the cave.
"Yep, definitely spiders," you say to no one in particular, "this should be easy." You extend your right hand, pointing you empty palm towards the depths of the cave. You concentrate on your body heat and mutter the incantation to cast a fireball. Your palm begins to glow and heat up until...
*Poof*
The gathered energy instantly dissipates into a small cloud of black smoke that drifts away in the wind.
"What the?" you say. "That should have worked. Unless..." Suddenly, your stomach lets out a loud, empty, gurgle. "Ugh, crap, I forgot breakfast."
"That's the problem with gastromancy," you think to yourself, "It never works on an empty stomach. Bleck, better go find one of these spiders, I'm never gonna be able to cast anything like this."
Gripping the handle of your dagger, you start walking into the cave. You walk carefully, making sure not to get caught in any of the webs. Even as carefully as you move, it gets increasing difficult as the cave gets darker and darker the deeper you go. Despite your best efforts, you trip on a bump in the terrain.
