"Jamie, your going to be late for school." That was his mother, and she was right. Jamie slunked lazily out of his bed, nearly falling down the stairs into his living room. He slapped himself on his right cheek a few times to wake himself up. "Morning mom."
His mother was behind the couch on her knees changing his little sister Sophie. The girl was nearly read for her day in preschool, wearing a pastel pink and yellow dress and pink shoes and socks. She was on her back, her mother replacing the wet diaper she had on with a fresh one.
"Hey Jamie. You need a change? You'll need to get into your uniform before the bus arrives." Jamie felt the front of his diaper. It was dry. He didn't mess it either. This usually meant that he would end up using his diaper soon enough anyway.
He quickly removed his shirt and tossed it into the nearby laundry hamper, leaving him wearing nothing but his diaper as he found one of his uniforms - freshly clean from the laundry - and a layer of winter clothes to wear over them to wear when he would traverse the chill outside.
