This choice: ...you call on the stallion.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #9

Saying “hi”

    by: Unknown
"HEY BIG BOY!" you called at the top of your lungs.
The stallion suddenly froze in place. His ears twitched a few times and then the colossal long head bowed. The two huge blue eyes scanning the undergrowth underneath.
"Do you think that he can see us?" asked the woman.
You watched the movement of the stallion's eyes: the giant was squinting his eyes in an attempt to locate you, unsuccessfully. "I think we are too hidden for him to see us. But at least he can hear us." you replied.

The woman looked around, there were blades of grass everywhere as far as the eye could see. Sometimes a different herb towered from the neverending sea of green, however, her attention was striked by wrinkled white mound and if the understanding of the new world perspective was right it wasn't even as far. "I think I found a solution." she turned at you with a smile. You turned at her back and she pointed at the 'hill'. "How do you feel about climbing?" she asked.
"What is it?"
"Žampiony."
"The what?"
The woman sighed. "Mushrooms. Like that species of mushroom you get on pizza."
"On a Field? I thought that edible mushrooms are only grown on farms and that all wild mushrooms are unedible or even poisonous..." you replied dumbfounded.
The woman gave you a poker face. Then she slowly raised her finger and said: "Let me one day teach you about the concept of 'mushrooming' once we get from this mess." Then she stepped forward and called: "HI HORSIE! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE SAYING?" to the surprise of you both the black warmblood nodded with his head.

You swore that you saw the woman's eyes sparkling when you both exchanged glances, but to be honest you were in the same awe as she was right now.
"GREAT!” she yipped happily and continued: “Listen: The reason why you can't see us is that we are really small..." As the woman said those words the stallion's expression went from slight shock to visible curiosity. The equine behemoth then tilted his head and his ears pointed towards the ground.
“Okay, we are going to show ourselves to you, BUT you need to promise us that you don’t eat us!”
“Why did you say it like that?” the woman immediately turned at you.
“I just want to make sure…” you tried to justify yourself.
“BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE YOUR FRIENDS!” the woman took action, “You don’t look very well but you showed us to be a good horse, so we want to help you.”
The warmblood’s eyes widened and now shined like two massive sapphires.
“Do you want to be friends?” the black ungulate giant nodded in response, “Alright then give us a moment and look at those white mushrooms!”

Yankee wasn’t really sure what was happening. He heard two squeaky voices who sounded like anthros, yet they claimed to be some sort of small midgets. Small midgets who wanted to be his friends.
He wondered if that was just some sort of daydream… Maybe Agatha had a bad mood again and gave them in the morning water with something in it. On other hoof: He would never say that the old Lorraine was a friend to a big colourful speaking avian. He remembered that Agatha called that creature harpy. So instead of getting back enjoying the rest of his time outside for the next 14 days, Yankee decided to give a shot to those tiny beings.
So he waited as they told him. To his surprise, two miniscule figures popped on top of one of the field mushrooms. They both jumped nimbly across the caps until the midgets stood on top of the tallest mushroom in the cluster.

The horse behemoth stared at you silently. From his expression you guessed that he may be wondering about how real this whole situation was.
“To be fair I quite can’t tell if this is a dream or not too…” you replied, not taking your eyes from the stallion’s gaze.
You and the woman both spooked when the black horse titan drooped his lips and lowered his head so close that his chin almost touched the edge of the mushrooms you were standing at - scared that he was going to eat you nevertheless.
However, you both stayed where you were. The behemoth was giving you both a closer look while his mouth formed a shocked “O”.

After a while the woman next to you dared to raise her hand and give the giant fella a friendly wave.
