Chapter #5

Lovable, but Clumsy

    by: Steamgear Author IconMail Icon
Ken thought carefully about who he should have shrink him. He didn’t really think anyone in his family would work. Kathleen was probably still a little tipsy after the party last night. Rosie was a thief to begin with. And while Kelly was sweet, she was only nine. He realized it would probably be best to ask a friend and with that an idea came to him. He put on his backpack and dropped the contents of the shrink ray inside before heading out the door.

Kim was going to be his choice. She was probably the nicest and outright sweetest girl he knew. Plus she was phenomenally curvy with a slight belly that actually was kind of cute on her. To top it all off she was an amazing cook, a self-proclaimed gourmet actually, and Ken thought it would be cool to eat one of her cakes at an inch tall. Of course she was hardly perfect, there were a few details that Ken hadn’t thought about in his excitement to show her the shrink ray, but he would soon be reminded of them as he rang the doorbell to her house, only a few blocks away from home.

“KEN!” Kim screamed out in an excited high pitched voice as she opened the door to see her close friend.

“Hi, Kim, I-” Ken didn’t have time to finish what he was saying, Kim basically lunged at him for a hug, wrapping her arms around him and sending him falling back on his butt, with Kim sitting on top of him.

“Ooops,” Kim said, innocently, “You alright, Kenny?”

It was at this point that Ken recalled the main problem with Kim. She may have been kind and caring, but she was clumsy and ditzy. She wasn’t exactly the brightest bulb despite being a wizard in any kitchen. She frequently tripped over her own feet and fell, though she always seemed to be cushioned by her massive assets, which were currently pinning Ken to the ground at normal size and hanging uncomfortably close to his face as Kim leaned over to check on him.

“C-could you get off?” Ken asked after a moment, he may have been an athlete and definitely outweighed Kim, but it seemed rude to just shove her off.

“Sure thing,” Kim said with a smile as she stood up. She straightened her tank top and pulled up her sweatpants, before offering Ken a hand.

Ken took Kim’s hand and stood up. He was just about to explain what he needed from Kim when a beeping noise echoed through the house. Kim, still holding Ken’s hand, virtually dragged him into the house, before letting go to close the door.

“Make yourself at home, my cookies are done,” She explained, waving a hand towards the couch before disappearing back into the family’s large kitchen.

Ken took his friend’s offer and immediately slumped down on the sofa. He took a deep breath. Kim’s clumsy and airheaded ways could be exhausting both mentally and physically. Suffice to say that hadn’t been the first time Kim had done something like that. Of course, that was a part of her charm and something Ken had gotten to know since they first met. Plus he was sure she’d be more careful when he was an inch tall. With that in mind, Ken pulled off his backpack and began checking if everything was still in one piece after the incident at the door. He was happy to find the shrink ray in one piece and set that on the coffee table before dipping back into the backpack to retrieve the instructions. That was when another problem walked in.

“Watcha looking for?” Came a younger voice.

Ken looked up to see Kim’s younger sister, the read-headed Skylar, also known as Skye to her friends. Ken didn’t know much about her other than what he heard through Kim. From what he had pieced together she was pretty much the opposite of Kim. Whereas Kim was airheaded, Skye was smart. Kim was clumsy, and Skye was on the gymnastics team. He made an assumption that Skye would probably be a pretty bad cook based on the other comparisons.

“Nothing, just a school project,” Ken explained, “Kim’s helping me.”

Skye scoffed at that. “You’re asking my sister for help in school. I’d be much better with that.”

Ken took note that the seven year old was a bit rude in contrast to Kim’s kindness, but he chalked that up to sibling rivalry. Little did Ken know that Skye was completely the opposite of Kim in terms of being nice and sweet. Skye’s teachers had called home several times due to her picking on kids at school. She wasn’t just rude, she was downright mean. Though without knowing this, Ken seriously weighed the idea of letting Skye help out a bit. At the very least she could just shrink him down and work on all the complex stuff, Kim probably wouldn’t mind. After a bit of thought, Ken decided to…

Choice 1: Wait for Kim (Kim returns and Skye leaves, allowing Ken to explain the scholarship to Kim and allow her to shrink him. Unfortunately, Kim’s clumsy and ditzy nature immediately begin causing problems at Ken’s size.)

Choice 2: Let Skye help him (Skye barely waits for Ken to finish explaining the scholarship before shrinking him down and taking him upstairs to her room. Once there, Skye shows him how cruel she actually is.)

You have the following choices:

1. Shrunken by the Ditz

2. Shrunken by the Bully
